CRUISE COVER FAQ'S

Planning to take a cruise? For more detail regarding your coverage take a look at some of our popular cruise insurance FAQ's below.
  • Am I automatically covered for cruises?
  • Not automatically. You must purchase our cruise pack within the payment process to be covered for any medical treatment you receive on board and for helicopter evacuation should you require emergency medical assistance.

  • My cruise is visiting 10 ports? Do I need to tell Zoom all destinations?
  • Yes, you must tell us every country or region the ship will visit. If you neglect to do so you may not be covered for all the countries you are visiting.

  • How much does it cost to visit the on-board doctor?
  • Simple treatments, consultations and medications on board a ship are charged at private rates. These can amount to $250 for just a quick 10-minute appointment. If you purchase our cruise pack add-on you'll be covered for any on-board doctor visits, prescribed drugs, hospital stays and more.

  • How do I tell Zoom about my medical history?
  • We have a quick and easy online medical screening which you need to complete if you have any pre-existing illnesses. Follow the medical questions within the quote process to complete the assessment for all travellers with pre-existing conditions. It'll only take a minute.

  • What age limits apply to cruise travel insurance policies with Zoom?
  • We cover travellers under the age of 85 only. Travellers 79 years can purchase a policy for a maximum trip duration of 365 days. Those aged between 80-85 years can purchase a policy for a maximum trip duration of 184 days only.

  • What age limits apply to annual multi trip policies?
  • Annual multi-trip policies are only available to those under 69 years. If you want to add-on our ski or adventure pack, that's only available to those under 69 too.

  • Are my golf clubs covered?
  • Yes. You are covered up to a combined total of $750 for your golf clubs, golf bag and golf trolley. If you are wanting a higher level of cover for individual golf items or higher combined limit you will need to buy the Golf Pack add on. The Golf Pack add on provides cover for your own Golf equipment (golf clubs, golf bag, golf trolley and golf shoes), Golf Equipment Hire (golf clubs, golf bag, golf trolley and golf shoes), Golf Green Fees and Hole in One cover.

  • Can I travel with my dependant grandchildren?
  • Yes, dependants will be included under your policy for free. They are defined as your own children or grandchildren and under the age of 19.

  • I have high value items; how much can I insure them for?
  • If you’re travelling with gadgets or more expensive items you can purchase additional cover for up to $5,000. Please note, you can only buy additional high value item cover under our comprehensive plan.

  • What excess applies to senior travellers?
  • A standard excess fee of $200 applies to travellers aged 70-79. A $2,000 excess applies to travellers aged 80-85.
